Hi all, as you know, this is the first semester we've been using discussion groups as a systematic component of this class and your thoughts, questions, and comments ("talking points") have been an excellent contribution. So, discussion groups are here to stay! I'm sure, though, that a lot can be done to improve the format and to make groups work even better. Some issues may be really hard to address, especially those related to participation (or lack of thereof) by some students. We really don't have in college many tools to "make" anyone do anything; we can only encourage, give credit where due and withhold it as necessary. But, I'm sure there are things we could do to make discussion groups (1) run more smoothly and (b) be as energizing and productive as possible. So, if you have any ideas, thoughts, experiences that could help us make it happen, please share those with me on this forum (AND GET TEN BONUS POINTS, TOO :)look
