Air Pressure
A team was directed to steam clean the inside
of an empty tank car. After thoroughly steam cleaning the inside, the
workers then noticed that it was getting late in the day and decided to
stop their work and close up the tank car for the night. They would
return early in the morning to see if any more steam cleaning would be
required.
Attached is a picture of what they saw of the tank
car in the morning. Explain how this happened. (Include in your
discussion, the types of heat transfer mechanisms, phase change
processes, and air pressure changes taking place throughout the
process).
